 University of National and World Economy

 

University of National and World Economy (UNWE) is one of the biggest and oldest higher educational institutions of economics in the Republic of Bulgaria and South Eastern Europe with a history of over 80 years. UNWE is a modern higher educational institution, which conducts education in different forms and at different levels towards awarding the educational qualification degrees Specialist, Bachelor, Master and the educational and scientific degree Doctor in compliance with the traditions and values of Bulgarian higher education, the international practice and contemporary trends in education of leading universities. LFMA memebers A.Stolyarov, T.Teplova, N.Berzon participated in the Conference "Innovation in Economics, Finance, and Management" organised by the University of National and World Economy on 9-13 September, 2010.

New Bulgarian University

 

In October 2009 we set up cooperation with the New Bulgarian University. We have identified areas of joint interests in studies of financial markets and analysis of publicly traded companies and are planning to launch research projects jointly with NBU PHD and master students. LFMA members T.Teplova and E.Shutova attended an international conference held at the New Bulgarian University on 28-29 September, 2009 and initiated a round table discussion on how to set the required rate of return on stocks for emerging markets. The issue drew keen interest of the participants.

7th International Conference at MSU

On 29 May, 2009, within the MSU 7th International Conference, the Laboratory of Financial Markets Analysis ran a round table discussion on "Investment Activity During the Recent Economic Crisis; the Role of the Government in Sustaining Capital Markets." Speakers from HSE, the HSE St. Petersburg branch, the Kiev State University, the RAS Institute for US and Canadian Studies touched upon such issues as various investment strategies in the crisis period, a comparison of traditional and alternative investment decisions, an analysis of different directions of state support in investment and innovative activity.
